Fundación Eugenio Granell / Pazo do Marqués de Bendaña

The Pazo do Marqués de Bendaña anchors the corner of the Plaza de Cervantes with a heavy, baroque stone balcony that seems to sag under its own weight. Built in the mid-eighteenth century, the palace served as the ancestral home for the Marqués de Bendaña. Today, the building houses the surrealist art collection of Eugenio Granell. When Granell returned to Spain from exile in nineteen eighty-five, he chose this manor to store his paintings, his masks, and his massive collection of tribal objects.
