Praza do Toural

The Praza do Toural features a tall, slender fountain made of granite standing at its center. This square once functioned as the primary cattle market for Santiago de Compostela, taking its name from the bulls that gathered here before being driven to the slaughterhouses. In the late eighteenth century, the wealthy merchant Juan Antonio López Pérez built the palace that overlooks the space, cementing the square's shift from a livestock hub to an address for the city’s burgeoning elite.
