Praza da Inmaculada

The Praza da Inmaculada centers on a wide, sloping expanse of granite paving framed by the towering north wall of the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. This square serves as the traditional entry point for pilgrims arriving via the Camino Francés. In nineteen sixty-four, city authorities discovered a hidden stash of medieval coins buried beneath the stone. The trove included rare pieces minted during the reign of King Alfonso the Seventh, likely discarded by a traveler who never made it to the cathedral doors.
