Carrer de la Mare de Déu

The Carrer de la Mare de Déu is the narrow, stone-paved spine of the old town, distinguished by the sheer density of its whitewashed arches and balconies. Known as the Carrer de la Verge to locals, this street functioned for decades as the pulsing, clandestine heart of Ibiza’s counterculture. In the nineteen seventies, performers and travelers transformed these tight, shadowed corners into a nightly theater of costumes and music that spilled out from the tiny doorways into the path of passersby.
