Montesol Experimental Ibiza

The Montesol Experimental Ibiza stands out on the busy Vara de Rey promenade with its colonial-style facade, painted a brilliant, unmistakable yellow. It opened in nineteen thirty-three as the first hotel on the island, long before Ibiza became a destination for international tourism. When the Spanish Civil War broke out a few years later, the building became a military headquarters. Officers mapped strategies in these rooms, while the basement served as a makeshift prison for those caught on the wrong side of the lines.
