Plaça de la Constitució

Plaça de la Constitució sits at the top of the old town, easily identified by the wide stone archway of the Portal de ses Taules. It once served as the main market square, where farmers from across the island arrived at dawn to sell produce under the eyes of the city wall. In eighteen seventy-four, the local council renamed the square to honor the Spanish Constitution, but the traders simply continued their work, packing the space with baskets of figs, almonds, and salt.
