Brighton Palace Pier

The Brighton Palace Pier extends seventeen hundred feet into the English Channel on a forest of iron legs. It remains the only survivor of the town's three great piers, supported by a structure that survived a direct hit from a rogue sea mine in nineteen forty. Captain Ellis, who oversaw the pier’s early defense, famously spent his nights patrolling the wooden planks to ensure the structure stayed secure. The pier holds onto the original ironwork while maintaining its role as an amusement arcade.
