Brighton Dome

The Brighton Dome features a prominent, onion-shaped cast iron dome that stands out against the seaside skyline. Built as a riding house for the Prince Regent in the early nineteenth century, the structure aimed to mimic the exoticism of the nearby Royal Pavilion. During the First World War, the building transformed into a hospital for Indian soldiers, where staff famously constructed a temporary kitchen to maintain strict religious dietary requirements. Today, it operates as a multi-venue arts center hosting performers and public events.
