The Edward the Seventh memorial in Brunswick Town stands as a tall, bronze statue of the monarch, cast by the sculptor Alfred Drury. It occupies a stone pedestal in the middle of a busy junction, capturing the king in his ceremonial robes. When the monument was unveiled in nineteen twelve, the local council faced a public argument over the cost, as many residents wanted the funds directed toward a new hospital ward instead of a bronze figure standing out in the open air.
