Brunswick Square

Brunswick Square features a broad, U-shaped layout of cream-colored townhouses opening directly onto the sea. Architect Charles Busby designed this centerpiece in the eighteen twenties to draw London’s wealthy elite to the coast. The square was meant to be a self-contained town with its own market and chapel. In eighteen thirty-seven, the young Princess Victoria stayed at number thirteen, a visit that solidified the neighborhood as the most fashionable address in Hove before she was crowned Queen.
