The Pump House sits on the edge of the Royal Albert Dock, identifiable by its tall, square brick chimney that rises well above the surrounding warehouses. Built in eighteen seventy, this structure once fueled the massive hydraulic network that powered the dock’s cranes and gates. The engineer George Fosbery Lyster designed it to handle the immense pressure required to lift ships and move heavy cargo. Today, the steady thrum of hydraulic machinery is replaced by the clatter of plates and glasses inside.
