St Patrick's Church, Belfast

The copper-clad spire of Saint Patrick's Church rises above the intersection of Donegall Street and Carrick Hill, distinguishable by its distinct, weathered green patina. Completed in eighteen seventy-seven, the church replaced a smaller chapel that struggled to accommodate the neighborhood's growing Catholic population during the nineteenth century. When the foundation stone was laid, workers uncovered a collection of coins and a newspaper from eighteen fourteen, relics from the original building that had served the congregation since the early days of the century.
