The Dirty Onion features a massive, timber-framed archway that stretches across the entry to its cobbled courtyard. This structure dates back to the seventeenth century and stands as the oldest surviving warehouse building in Belfast. It once served as a bonded spirit store where merchants aged whiskey in large oak casks. Today, the space retains its original grit with exposed brick walls and iron fixtures, housing a tavern that preserves the rough-hewn character of the city’s early industrial trading days.
