The MAC

The Metropolitan Arts Centre, known locally as the MAC, features a distinctive, jagged facade of dark basalt stone that cuts a sharp silhouette against Saint Anne's Square. Before it opened in twenty twelve, this patch of land sat empty for decades following the decline of Belfast’s old shipping warehouses. When designers planned the structure, they embedded a tower that mimics the height of the nearby Saint Anne’s Cathedral spire. It houses three separate theaters and several art galleries behind those stone walls.
