Donegall Place

Donegall Place serves as the primary artery of central Belfast, defined by the towering, ornate stone facades of Victorian-era department stores that line the street. The street functions as the ceremonial entrance to the City Hall, which anchors the southern end of the thoroughfare. In nineteen hundred and six, when the City Hall opened, this street transformed from a narrow residential lane into a grand promenade. Merchants moved in, constructing elaborate frontages to capture the foot traffic of wealthy shoppers heading toward the new civic center.
