Walt Disney Concert Hall

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is a jumble of brushed stainless steel curves that catch the Southern California sun. Lillian Disney donated fifty million dollars in nineteen eighty-seven to build a home for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Frank Gehry designed the structure, but costs ballooned and the project stalled for years. When the building finally opened in two thousand three, neighbors complained that the reflective metal panels acted like giant solar cookers, heating nearby apartments and blinding drivers on the street below.
