Los Angeles Union Station

The white stucco walls and the towering, recessed arch of the main entrance mark Los Angeles Union Station. It opened in nineteen thirty-nine to consolidate three separate railroad terminals into a single hub. Architects John and Donald Parkinson blended Spanish Colonial Revival features with Art Deco geometry. Inside the ticketing hall, the original leather seats remain, facing a vast ceiling of painted wood beams. This was the last of the great American passenger rail terminals built during the golden age of the railroad.
