The Million Dollar Theater features a Churrigueresque facade covered in intricate terra cotta carvings of sirens, ships, and cornucopias. Sid Grauman opened this movie palace in nineteen eighteen as the first venue built specifically for film premieres in Los Angeles. During the opening night, the star of the film, William S. Hart, walked out onto the stage to greet the audience. The theater operated as a showcase for high-budget silent films before later becoming a center for Spanish-language cinema.
