The building at one hundred seventy-nine Lincoln Street stands out with its heavy, rusticated granite base and the distinct, oversized arched windows lining the ground floor. It was built in eighteen ninety-nine as a shoe warehouse, back when the Leather District held the entire industry in its grip. Business owners here used these sturdy, wide-open floors to store and trade massive quantities of hides. The architect, Arthur Bowditch, designed the structure to carry immense weight while keeping the interior light accessible for workers.
