Antone’s Nightclub is marked by a neon sign featuring a stylized blues guitar hanging over East Fifth Street. Clifford Antone opened this venue in nineteen seventy-five to provide a home for blues musicians who struggled to find stages elsewhere in Austin. When Muddy Waters played the inaugural show, he famously told the crowd he felt like he was in his own living room. That feeling of intimacy defined the club, attracting legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan, who honed his craft on this stage.
