The jagged, light-filtering steel canopy hovering over the Moody Amphitheater defines this eleven-acre stretch of Waterloo Park. Before this transformation, the land served as a flood-control bypass for Waller Creek. In the nineteen seventies, the city paved over the area, turning it into a concrete channel that sat largely empty for decades. It reopened in twenty twenty-one as a reclaimed urban forest, anchored by the amphitheater and miles of limestone trails that now wind through the creek bed.
