Hemingway's Brewery Cairns Wharf

The corrugated iron roof and heavy timber beams of the Hemingway’s Brewery building trace back to the nineteen twenties, when this structure served as the city’s customs house and cargo terminal. Ships once pulled alongside the wharf to unload machinery and goods directly into these bays. Today, the copper brewing tanks inside occupy the same space where crates of iron and colonial supplies rested a century ago. The salt air from the inlet still blows through the open-air design of the wharf.
