The Whaler

The Whaler in Battery Point displays a dark timber facade and a roofline that dips low toward the street. It occupies a building constructed in eighteen eighty-five to house a general store for mariners and local residents. While the grocery shelves are gone, the original layout remains, and the interior walls are lined with old photographs of ships that once docked at the nearby wharves. It functions today as a pub where people gather to drink in rooms built for barrels of flour.
