Shipwrights Arms Hotel

The Shipwrights Arms Hotel features a low-slung, cream-colored exterior capped by a simple iron roof, sitting firmly on the corner of Trumpeter and Colville Streets. Built in eighteen forty-six, it served as a primary watering hole for the skilled craftsmen who carved whaling ships from the local blue gum timber. Captains and laborers once crowded these rooms to settle accounts and trade news from the docks. Today, the pub keeps the name of those original shipbuilders, echoing their labor in every pint poured.
