Shambles Brewery

The corrugated metal roof and exposed brickwork of Shambles Brewery stand out among the surrounding industrial warehouses of Hobart. This building once functioned as a commercial printing press for the Mercury newspaper, housing heavy mechanical rollers instead of fermentation tanks. In twenty seventeen, a group of local brewers converted the vacant space, keeping the saw-tooth roof design that originally helped natural light flood the factory floor. They named the venture after the nearby area, historically known as the shambles, or meat markets.
