The Polly Woodside is a three-masted, iron-hulled barque permanently moored in the Yarra River. Built in Belfast in eighteen eighty-five, she spent decades hauling coal, grain, and general cargo across the oceans. Captain William MacIntyre once commanded her through a fierce storm near Cape Horn, where the crew spent three days fighting to save the vessel from foundering. She remained a working ship for over eighty years before settling here as a museum. Her dark steel hull sits low against the wharf.
