Union Lane

other

Union Lane is a narrow, compressed corridor that slices through the block between Bourke Street and Little Collins Street. Its walls are plastered with thick, overlapping layers of aerosol art, created by a rotating roster of street artists permitted to paint here legally. In the nineteen nineties, this alley served as a loading zone for the department stores facing the main streets. Delivery drivers frequently left piles of cardboard and plastic crates here, creating a dark and cluttered space before the City of Melbourne designated it a street art site.
