Gooderham Building

The Gooderham Building sits at the sharpest wedge of land in the city, where Wellington and Front Streets collide. Its red brick walls and rounded turret rise like a ship’s prow cutting through the concrete traffic. George Gooderham, a local distillery magnate, commissioned the office in eighteen ninety-two for his whiskey business. A painter once caught the building in a mural on the back wall, depicting a trompe l’oeil scene that matches the perspective of the street leading right into the brick.
