Simcoe WaveDeck

The Simcoe WaveDeck curves upward, creating a sudden, rhythmic crest in the otherwise flat wooden boardwalk along Toronto’s waterfront. This structure replaces a straight concrete path with a series of high, rolling swells meant to mimic the movement of Lake Ontario. Architects from West 8 and DTAH designed the deck to provide an unconventional spot for people to sit or climb. When it opened in two thousand nine, the deck forced pedestrians to change their pace as they navigated its steep wooden waves.
