Campbell House Museum

The Campbell House sits tucked behind the bustling Art Gallery of Ontario, marked by its severe, grey Palladian symmetry and high stone foundations. Built in eighteen twenty-two for Chief Justice William Campbell and his wife, Hannah, it served as the social hub for the small, muddy outpost of York. When the house faced demolition in the nineteen sixties to clear ground for an office tower, a local historical society moved the entire three hundred ton building sixteen blocks to this location on rollers.
