Convocation Hall

Convocation Hall features a massive circular dome that anchors the west side of King's College Circle. Completed in nineteen oh seven, the limestone rotunda serves as the ceremonial heart of the University of Toronto. Its design mimics the Sheldonian Theatre at Oxford, intended to project a sense of classical academic tradition. During the second world war, the hall hosted secret research meetings for the Manhattan Project, where scientists debated the ethics of atomic power while students sat in the very same wooden benches.
