Philosopher's Walk

Philosopher's Walk is a quiet, sunken trail that follows the path of the long-buried Castle Frank Brook through the University of Toronto. Its most distinct feature is the steep, wooded ravine that shields the path from the city traffic above. During the mid-twentieth century, local legend claimed the route got its name because professors walked the path to debate philosophy between classes. In reality, a staff member simply named it to evoke the calm, scholarly atmosphere of a European university town.
