Anshei Minsk

The building at ten St. Andrew Street stands out with its heavy, arched masonry facade and the prominent, faded Hebrew lettering carved into the stone above the entrance. Built in nineteen thirteen, this structure served as the home for a congregation of Jewish immigrants who arrived in Toronto from Minsk. They carried their religious traditions across the Atlantic and pooled their resources to construct a permanent house of worship, creating a physical anchor for their community within the neighborhood's dense, changing streets.
