Mackenzie House

The Mackenzie House stands out with its mid-nineteenth century yellow brick facade and ornate iron porch on Bond Street. This was the final home of William Lyon Mackenzie, Toronto's first mayor and a firebrand rebel who led the failed Upper Canada Rebellion of eighteen thirty-seven. After living in exile, he returned to this house, where he spent his final years printing his newspaper and navigating a life far removed from his days as a revolutionary leader.
