The Allen Lambert Galleria features a high, vaulted glass ceiling supported by eight steel columns on each side that fan out like the leaves of palm trees. Architect Santiago Calatrava designed this massive atrium to link two towers of the Brookfield Place office complex. During the construction of the complex, developers preserved the nineteenth century facade of the Merchant Bank building and integrated it directly into the new structure. The steel trees create a cathedral-like space that connects Bay and Yonge streets.
