Church of St. Salvation

religious

The Church of Saint Salvation sits near the Pile Gate with a distinct Renaissance facade topped by a curved gable. After a massive earthquake devastated Dubrovnik in fifteen twenty, the local senate commissioned this building as a votive offering. They dedicated it to the Savior to express gratitude for the city surviving the tremors. Master builder Petar Andrijic oversaw the construction, finishing the work in fifteen twenty-eight. It remains one of the few buildings in the city that avoided major structural damage during the sixteen sixty-seven earthquake.
