Rooms Klarisa Palace

other

The Klarisa Palace sits just inside the Pile Gate, defined by the broad, stone-arched loggia that opens onto the square. Once a fourteenth-century convent for the Poor Clares, the building served as a home for young women from noble families who lived in total seclusion. When the French army arrived in eighteen oh six, they converted the quiet space into a military depot and bakery. Today, the thick stone walls house a restaurant, preserving the high ceilings where nuns once kept their vows.
