Church of Our Lady of Carmel

The Church of Our Lady of Carmel in the Ploče neighborhood is marked by a modest, rectangular stone facade and a bell gable that sits directly above its small arched entrance. Built in the early seventeenth century, this structure served the local sailors and workers who lived along this stretch of the coast. Local lore records that it was the site where a prominent ship captain deposited his vows after surviving a violent storm at sea, pledging to maintain the chapel for his community.
