Port Saint-Sauveur

Port Saint-Sauveur sits where the Canal du Midi meets the city, marked by the long, low line of its stone quay and the rows of plane trees that shade the water. This was once a bustling commercial hub where barges loaded with wine and grain waited to enter Toulouse. In the eighteen twenties, boatmen tied their vessels here to pay tolls before navigating the final stretch. A single metal ring still bolted into the masonry survives from those days of heavy river traffic.
