The Tour CGI stands as a survivor from the very first generation of skyscrapers built in the La Defense business district. Completed in 1971, the structure was originally named the Tour EDF-GDF after the French energy companies that commissioned it. Its presence here marks the transition of this area from a landscape of industrial factories and makeshift dwellings into the towering international office center you see today.
