Île Saint-Germain

The Île Saint-Germain is defined by a massive, rusted steel sculpture that towers over the riverbanks like a jagged, red-painted skeleton. This island served as a military firing range and a site for storage depots for much of the twentieth century. In the nineteen eighties, the landscape architect Jean-François Jodry transformed the industrial ground into a public park. Today, the rusted remnants of its former life sit beside structured gardens, while the sculpture anchors a space once forbidden to the public.
