Place de l'Arsenal sits at the center of the neighborhood as a wide, open square paved in light stone, framed by residential buildings and marked by a central, modern fountain. It occupies the former site of a nineteenth-century military site that gave the area its name. In eighteen eighty-five, the French army established a complex here for testing artillery and storing munitions. Today, the artillery pieces are long gone, replaced by the daily rhythm of neighbors moving through the plaza.
