Square de Weiden

park garden

Square de Weiden is a small green oasis that exists today because of a dedicated campaign by local residents. In the mid two thousands, this two thousand square meter space faced the threat of being partially replaced by a six-story apartment complex. A local association named Douceville organized a multi-year effort to protect the land and successfully blocked the development project. Because of their work, the square preserved a remarkable, mature plane tree that had been slated for removal. This tree now stands as a central feature of the park, serving as a living reminder of the community's successful push to maintain their neighborhood's open space.
