The Auguste Rodin sculpture garden sits on a hillside where the artist once lived and worked for more than a decade. The terrain slopes sharply, forcing paths to wind through greenery that hides the bronze figures until you are nearly upon them. Rodin moved here in eighteen ninety-five to escape the distractions of Paris. He filled his studio with hundreds of plaster casts, and he eventually turned the grounds into an outdoor laboratory where he tested how natural light hit his work.
