The name Chemin des Vignes, or Path of the Vines, reveals a landscape that existed long before the modern streets of Issy-les-Moulineaux. Until the late nineteenth century, this slope was blanketed in rows of grapes, supplying wine to the nearby workers of Paris. The vineyards eventually vanished under the weight of industrial expansion and new housing, leaving behind only this narrow, climbing street as a marker of the agricultural life that defined these hillsides for generations.
