Parc Daniel Rops

The park you are entering is named after Daniel-Rops, a man who once walked these same streets as a teacher. Before he became one of the most widely read French historians and writers of the twentieth century, he worked right here in Neuilly-sur-Seine as a history professor at the local Lycée Pasteur. Born Henri Petiot, he adopted his famous pen name while crafting a massive body of work that included over seventy books. His writing often explored the intersection of faith and history, with his monumental studies on the life of Jesus and the history of the Church reaching hundreds of thousands of readers across the globe. By naming this green space after him, the community honors a figure who spent his early career shaping the minds of local students before his own literary voice made him a member of the prestigious Académie française.
