The Church of Our Lady of Labour features a gray, industrial facade built entirely of iron and steel, hidden behind a modest stone entryway. Built for the Exposition Universelle in nineteen hundred, the structure served the neighborhood’s growing population of laborers. When the church was dismantled and moved to this site, the architect Jules Astruc kept the metal framework exposed inside. It remains the only parish in Paris built with this exposed steel skeleton, a design meant to resemble a factory floor.
