Square Saint-Lambert

The Square Saint Lambert occupies the grounds where a gasworks factory operated until the early twentieth century. Tall, mature trees now shade the pathways that replaced the industrial machinery. In nineteen thirty-three, the city converted this site into a public garden. A bronze sculpture of a woman holding a child stands near the entrance, a piece carved by Jean Boucher to honor the local residents who died during the First World War. Children play today where iron pipes once hissed with gas.
