Conseil Économique Social et Environnemental (CESE)

The Palais d'Iéna features a long, curved concrete facade and a dramatic, soaring rotunda that anchors the building to the corner of the Avenue d'Iéna. Architect Auguste Perret designed this structure in the nineteen thirties to house the Museum of Public Works. Perret insisted on using reinforced concrete as a decorative element rather than hiding it behind stone. When he passed away in nineteen fifty-four, his apprentices finished the project, and the building eventually became the permanent home for France's third parliamentary assembly.
