The Zénith Paris is a massive, tent-like structure of white canvas stretched over a steel frame. It was designed in nineteen eighty-four to address a specific problem: there was no medium-sized venue in Paris suitable for rock and pop concerts. The French Ministry of Culture wanted a place that could be assembled quickly and offer excellent acoustics for amplified music. Johnny Hallyday inaugurated the stage, and since then, the canvas has been replaced several times to keep the venue functional.
